About

Welcome to the Hideaway Hollow! Also lovingly nicknamed "the Hideaway" or "the Mill," and more famously known as "Myers Mills Grist Mill." As a property, it has known many unique identities, but today the Hideaway's essence and consciously adopted future, is that of its and our own making. It is our intention to respect and care for both property and land as a place of creation and inspiration; in deep communication with the earth, and in connection with surrounding communities. We have spent the last few years allying the past and future of this wonderful environment. In an effort to honor the past, in tandem with building a future, we have initiated a lot of projects that are close to our hearts, embodying the philosophies we have for ourselves and the Hideaway; to encourage a space that feels not only like an open home, but an open heart.

Ethos

Our core philosophy

At the Hideaway Hollow, we believe in sustainability, creativity, and conscientiousness informing all that we do. Our philosophy is rooted in a commitment to engendering spaces that honor nature, while inspiring creativity and contentment. It is our aim to thoughtfully commemorate the history of the Mill; and act as stewards of the land. Any projects initiated are fostered with this ethos in mind--to harmonize with the environment. By blending our individual ideas and artistries, with ecological responsibility, we aim to together craft spaces that are both beautiful and sustainable--for the earth, our communities, and generations to come.

Our Mission

Historic 235-year-old former Grist Mill sitting on Butternut Creek. Once producing buckwheat flour and cornmeal in partnership with Pillsbury, operating as a general store for the locals of New Lisbon, this property has had a rich and unique history serving as a community nexus for generations. Over the last 3 years, we have been revitalizing this beautiful property to accommodate a new chapter of visitors and travelers who can add to its story.

We are privileged to be caring for this land. Part of that requires cultivation, excavation, and remediation. We do this to the best of our knowledge and skillset, and when necessary, we call in others to kindly help us, as well. Any changes made to the property is always with the earth in mind. We are keepers of the land, during this space and time. This requires reverence to, and communication with, the land itself. It is important to us to exercise our role as stewards and guardians toward every decision made.

We are incredibly excited to continue to develop and contribute to the Hideaway Hollow's longevity. Some of our future projects include: agricultural propagation, herbal applications for medicinal and daily use, community events and outreach, artist's retreats, historical restoration, and more. Check in to see our ongoing progress!
